Catherine A. Bedford
Catherine just finished her first year at the Haas School of Business where
she is pursuing an MBA degree with a focus in real estate. She grew up in
Boston, but lived in Paris for one year after winning a scholarship to the
Sorbonne. Inspired by the architecture in Europe, Catherine studied Civil
Engineering at Brown University in Rhode Island.
Upon graduating from college, Catherine ventured across the country to work
for DPR Construction, Inc. in San Diego as a project engineer. Her projects
ranged from ground-up construction of senior communities to tenant improvements
of medical office buildings. In 2000, Catherine transferred to DPR's San
Francisco office where she managed tenant improvement projects in high-rise
office buildings.
Though she enjoyed wearing a hard hat every day, Catherine returned to school
in order to launch a career in real estate finance. Now at Haas, she is
president of the Berkeley Real Estate Club and the Women in Leadership Club. In
addition, she participated in this year's NAIOP Real Estate Competition,
competing against a Stanford team to determine the highest and best use for a
16-acre site in San Jose. This summer she is working at Wells Fargo Bank with
the Real Estate Distribution Group.
