Saundra D. Davis
Saundra Davis has spent the last 20 years providing capacity building and
technical assistance to non-profit organizations and governmental agencies. She
received her B.S. in Management from Golden Gate University (GGU) in San
Francisco in 1996. While in college, Saundra founded and served as Chair of the
GGU Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
(NAACP), received the Governor of California "Call to Action"
Scholarship, and the Gonzaga University Law School Fellowship.
In 1997, Saundra founded the Management & Business Assistance Center (MBAC)
and for five years, managed the Ryan White Title I Planning Council, a 30-member
community planning body that prioritizes and allocates AIDS funding for Alameda
and Contra Costa Counties in California. Saundra has served on the Board of
Directors of several non-profit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area and
provides consulting services to train leaders of non-profit organizations,
organize community planning processes, facilitate strategic planning, and
coordinate fund development plans.
In January 2004, Saundra marked the beginning of a new academic challenge in
a new profession by pursuing a Master's degree in Financial Planning. Her chosen
path is to obtain Certified Financial Planner Certification and provide personal
financial planning services to low- to middle-income clients, and start a
non-profit organization designed to teach money management and financial
planning to people in communities of color. She is currently enrolled as a
full-time student at Golden Gate University, and will graduate in summer 2005.
She chose this field because of her desire to help people create a quality of
life that supports their spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being and views
a healthy financial perspective as an important step in that journey.
Saundra delights in creating jewelry and in her two adorable grandchildren
and has a mediocre golf game.
